An accident on Interstate 20 just west of exit 194 scattered debris for close to 300 yards and slowed traffic for about an hour Friday night.

About 5:30 p.m., a truck and a black sports car were involved in a collision that badly damaged the car.

Jaws of Life were needed to extricate one vehicle occupant, according to Martinez-Columbia Rescue's Engine Number 4's Nick Nesbitt. Authorites said no one was seriously injured in the wreck.

The truck, with Masterpiece Transportation written on the side, sustained major damage to its front end, including a smashed-in grill and was missing its front bumper.

Members of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and Martinez-Columbia Rescue's swept debris onto the shoulder.
