Woman cited for public drunkenness after diner dust-up

Posted: August 9, 2012 - 4:36pm

A Evans woman who didn’t get her fried chicken fast enough was cited with public drunkenness Tuesday night after an altercation with restaurant workers.

Helen Lavern Turner, 53, walked into Hardee’s on Washington Road at about 7:30 p.m., and ordered chicken, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report. An employee told her it would take several minutes to cook and gave Turner part of her meal.

Turner became irate while waiting and started calling the employee “ignorant” and claiming the employee was “treating her badly because of her race,” the report stated.

When the food was ready, Turner walked up to the front of the restaurant and threw the chicken on the counter, the report stated. She began banging on the counter and insulting other employees.

When deputies arrived, Turner admitted she had been drinking earlier, the report stated. She tried to walk away and was issued a citation for public drunkenness, according to Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

Just My Opinion

Well, this might sound odd,

Well, this might sound odd, but I want to pipe up and defend this Hardee's location.....well, they don't really need defending, do they?? I have to say that I do LOVE their fried chicken....some of the BEST in town! The service has always been excellent, especially given that it's a fast-food restaurant...that's not always easy to find. I don't mind when I have to wait for the chicken because they bring it out to us and it's nice and hot.
DANG!!! You know, we haven't had our supper yet, and I'm thinking I might want to go get me some Hardee's CHICKEN!!

fast food rage

Not unusual even for sober people. One time in Florida I witnessed a person throw a breakfast biscuit at a fastfood worker just because the order was wrong. The biscuit smashed against the window.
