Lightning sparked a fire at a Martinez home Tuesday evening. Homeowners at 335 Pellet Court called 911 at about 7:30 p.m. after lightning struck the home, Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue Batt. Chief Danny Kuhlmann said. Lightning from storms, which caused flooding in other areas of Columbia County, struck the roof setting it on fire, Kuhlmann said. The occupants escaped the home and were not injured. The blaze caused extensive damage to the roof, attic and upper story of the home, Kuhlmann said.
