Columbia County authorities are looking for two people they say recently spent more than $3,500 with stolen credit cards at the Evans Walmart.

An Evans woman said someone stole her wallet on June 20, then spent more than $3,500 using her four credit and debit cards, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The woman called Richmond County authorities after discovering her wallet stolen from the office of Weinberger’s Furniture Showroom on Washington Road. She discovered it missing at about 2 p.m. and immediately closed all her accounts.

A man and a woman were caught on Walmart store surveillance video coming and going from the store and the nearby Evans Shell Gas station, where they used the woman’s four debit and credit cards to spend more than $3,500 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the report stated.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the wanted couple should contact the Columbia County Sheriff’s office at (706) 541-2800.
