A Martinez woman called authorities early Monday claiming someone broke into her vehicle as she dropped her child off at daycare.

The 32-year-old woman said she parked her 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer outside A Child’s World, 4204 Columbia Road in Martinez, at about 7:45 a.m. After the woman walked her child inside, someone broke out the passenger window of her sport utility vehicle and stole her purse, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

A deputy reviewed video surveillance footage, which showed the woman walk her child inside. Soon after, a burgundy Nissan passenger car pulled up next to the woman’s vehicle. A man got out of the sedan, looked inside the SUV, broke the passenger window and stole the purse, containing her credit card, drivers license, checkbook, savings account numbers and $50 in cash, according to the report.

The thief got back into his car and left headed east on Columbia Road.

That's blazen

Let's hope the police put a lot of effort into catching this crook. The inconvenience to this young lady will be great. This guy is blazen to do such a crime.

A rare opportunity to correct RM.

It is "brazen"; but you are 100% correct. Thieves are so brazen today it is ridiculous. Wonder if the new law law will allow allow him to skate without a felony?

You guessed it...Frank Stallone

Appletree got hit too...

The same thing happened at the Appletree Academy off The Pass near Sonic on Furys Ferry. Same burgundy vehicle was reported there also and believed to be the same culprit.
