The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has identified two men who died Thursday in a wreck on Bobby Jones Expressway.
Marcus Hyder, 27, of Evans, and Kyle Davis, 26, of Martinez, died after being struck by a vehicle that drifted over the eastbound lane of Bobby Jones Expressway near Gordon Highway at 1:19 p.m., said Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen.
Police said the two victims and a third man, 48-year-old Matt Taylor, were in the emergency lane adjusting furniture in a pickup truck bed when a car driven by Lydia Martin, 61, of Washington, D.C., drifted across the line and struck the three men.
Taylor was transported to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where he remains in critical, but stable, condition.
Police believe Martin might have fallen asleep at the wheel. Toxicology tests have been submitted.
Martin faces charges of failure to maintain lane and two counts of second-degree homicide by vehicle.
