Columbia County investigators are looking for a man who robbed an Evans gas station early Tuesday.

Just after midnight, a man wearing a hooded jacket with a scarf over his face walked into the TPS station on Washington Road at William Few Parkway and pointed a pistol at the clerk, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office report.

The man took cash and cigarettes, and then ran from the store. He last was seen headed south on William Few Parkway. Neither the clerk nor a customer in the store were harmed during the holdup.

Investigators are looking for a slender white male, 5 feet, 10 inches to 5 feet, 11 inches tall, wearing a black hooded jacket, white or gray pants, white and black shoes and carrying a blue sack, the report states.

Never understood why someone

Never understood why someone would commit armed robbery and face 20 years in prison for maybe a couple of hundred dollars and cigarettes. I mean, if you are going to face those kind of consequences, why not go for the big bucks? Guess I don't think like a criminal. From past cases, I would say the CCSO will nail this guy within 48 hours. We have great law enforcement in CC.
