An Appling woman is in critical condition after being airlifted Wednesday to a hospital from Appling, where her truck hit a tree.
Christy Diles, 48, of Keg Pointe Road, was driving her 2004 Dodge Ram on Eubank Drive in Appling at about 8 p.m., according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris. She was traveling too fast as she approached the stop sign at Ray Owens Road.
Because she locked up the brakes, Diles slid through the intersection and hit a tree, Morris said.
Diles, who was not wearing a seat belt, was airlifted to the Georgia Health Sciences University Hospital, where she was in critical condition late Thursday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
