Two Harlem teens were arrested late Tuesday in connection to a recent armed robbery of two teens in Martinez.
Deontay Lemarcus Green, 17, of Tolbert Drive, was charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Jeffrey Taylor Ray, 18, of Joy Road, was charged with making false statements.
On May 12, two 17-year-old boys told authorities that they were robbed at gunpoint while walking to a Martinez convenience store. At about 11 p.m., they said two men approached them as they walked to a Circle K store on Old Evans Road.
One of the men pointed a chrome handgun at the teens and demanded their possessions. The armed robber pointed the gun at one of the teens, who said he didn’t have anything in his pockets. The robber then told him to run away, which he did.
The robber then pointed the gun at the other teen, while his accomplice emptied the teen’s pockets. The robbers took the teen’s cell phone, $25 in cash and a pack of cigarettes, but not before the robber got the teen to show him how to operate the phone.
The robbers ran away toward Old Petersburg Road.
Green and Ray were arrested at their homes late Tuesday.
Green is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center without bond, according to jail records. Ray was being held Wednesday morning on a $2,600 bond.
