Two Harlem teens were arrested late Tuesday in connection to a recent armed robbery of two teens in Martinez.

Deontay Lemarcus Green, 17, of Tolbert Drive, was charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Jeffrey Taylor Ray, 18, of Joy Road, was charged with making false statements.

On May 12, two 17-year-old boys told authorities that they were robbed at gunpoint while walking to a Martinez convenience store. At about 11 p.m., they said two men approached them as they walked to a Circle K store on Old Evans Road.

One of the men pointed a chrome handgun at the teens and demanded their possessions. The armed robber pointed the gun at one of the teens, who said he didn’t have anything in his pockets. The robber then told him to run away, which he did.

The robber then pointed the gun at the other teen, while his accomplice emptied the teen’s pockets. The robbers took the teen’s cell phone, $25 in cash and a pack of cigarettes, but not before the robber got the teen to show him how to operate the phone.

The robbers ran away toward Old Petersburg Road.

Green and Ray were arrested at their homes late Tuesday.

Green is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center without bond, according to jail records. Ray was being held Wednesday morning on a $2,600 bond.

If

If President Obama had a son, I guess he would look like Green.

Did I miss something?

I must admit to some confusion here. One would think that since Mr. Ray was the one who emptied out the pockets of one of the victims, he should have received more charges than just making false statements...possibly aiding and abetting in the commission of a crime?

RE: If

@Little Lamb. So why would you say if the President had a son he would look like Green?

Obama's son

He said that about Trayvon Martin, so this would make as much sense.

Chain gang

Can we get any lawmakers to grow a backbone and introduce a law that brings back the chain gang for violent offenders? These guys are 17 and 18, which means that they will get out and get another "strike" to rob again. We need to send a clear message to criminals. Their behavior will not be tolerated. Make them work in the hot sun for about 5 years, 5 days a week. If nothing else, maybe that will teach them some work ethic.

I agree with Chain Gang

We have the Youth Challenge Academy at Fort Gordon; require them to go there for six weeks. These behaviors will continue because there are no consequences for their actions.

Do Green and Ray...

live with their fathers? have fathers who are actively involved in their lives?
