Funeral services for a Harlem High School senior killed in a vehicle wreck earlier this week will be held Saturday.

Jonathan Hartman’s funeral starts at noon at Kiokee Baptist Church, 2520 Ray Owens Road, Appling. His visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiokee Baptist.

Hartman, a student athlete at Harlem, died Tuesday after his Toyota 4Runner ran off Scotts Ferry Road, causing the 18-year-old to over-correct and flip the SUV several times before it hit a tree.

Hartman, the son of Kiokee Baptist Pastor Steve Hartman, was expected to graduate from high school on May 19.

Classmates and faculty honored Hartman on Wednesday by wearing blue and orange, the colors of his favorite team, the Florida Gators.

They also held an after-school vigil around the school’s spirit rock. Students had painted “RIP Johnny” on the rock.

Players and coaches on Harlem’s football, basketball and tennis teams will serve as honorary pallbearers at Hartman’s funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kiokee Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
