Columbia County authorities arrested an Evans man Friday after a woman claimed he was cursing in front of her small children.
Tyler O’Neil King, 21, of Creekside Drive, was charged with disorderly conduct after the incident that occurred near a beach area at Wildwood Park on Clark’s Hill Lake.
The 34-year-old woman said she took her children to the beach area at about 6:30 p.m. and saw a group of young people arguing, shouting profanities and shoving each other. The woman said she took her children to the restroom and when she came out, King and another man were shoving each other and shouting profanities.
When the woman asked the men to quit cursing in front of her small children, King cursed at her and told her to shut up. The woman called 911 because she feared for the safety of herself and her children.
King walked away. The other man apologized to the woman and left in a truck.
Deputies found King close to the beach, but he claimed he was just dropped off there and denied having any kind of altercation. Deputies took him back to the beach, where the woman positively identified him.
King then admitted drinking multiple beers and shouting profanities at several others because they were trying to fight him. He still denied saying anything to the woman. King’s blood alcohol level was .169, according to a breath sample deputies took at the scene.
King was released from the Columbia County Detention Center Saturday after posting a $500 bond, according to jail personnel.
