A Grovetown Middle School pupil was arrested Wednesday morning for making a bomb threat.
A 12-year-old was charged with felony terroristic threats in connection to a bomb threat made at the school on Tuesday, Grovetown Department of Public Safety Investigator James Tredore said.
A threat claiming its author had a bomb was written on the eighth grade boys bathroom, Tredore said.
The school was evacuated and police, fire and emergency medical personnel responded.
“We had the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office bomb dogs conduct a sweep of the school,” Tredore said.
The 12-year-old, who later confessed, was identified through interviews, surveillance video footage and handwriting analysis.
This is the third bomb threat at the school this school year, Tredore said.
“This is a continual problem we’re having,” Capt. Gary Owens said.
At a detention hearing in Columbia County Juvenile Court Wednesday, Judge Douglas Flanagan sent the boy to the Regional Youth Detention Center.
