An Evans man said he confronted someone stealing yard equipment from his house Sunday afternoon.

The 35-year-old said he was inside his Roxbury Drive home at about 1:30 p.m. when he heard a noise from the carport area. The homeowner found a man loading his weedeater and chainsaw into a Lexus parked in the driveway.

When the homeowner confronted the man, the thief said he didn’t want any trouble and that he was sorry. He took the items out of the car, put them on the ground and left, according to a Columbia County Sheriff's Office report.
