Authorities charged two Bel Air Elementary School pupils with sexual battery Friday morning.

“Both suspects physically assaulted another male student in similar fashion as to that involving the Charlie Rape Gang,” said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris in an email.

The boys are 11 and 12 years old and live in Evans, Morris said.

Bel Air Elementary administrators informed the sheriff’s office Friday after receiving an email from a concerned parent.

“As we understand it, this type of activity has been occurring for several days, but no additional victims have come forward,” Morris said.

The boys currently are awaiting a hearing before county Juvenile Court Judge Douglas Flanagan.

The Charlie Rape Gang is a group of five Lakeside Middle School pupils accused last month of sexually assaulting classmates by “dry-humping” them.

Two of the boys with a history of discipline problems were expelled by a school system hearing officer during a March 7 hearing for the remainder of this school year and the first semester of next school year. The other boys received additional days of in-school suspension.

All the boys still face charges of simple battery in juvenile court.

Why did it take so long for

Why did it take so long for the newspapers to publish the tribunal results? The tribunal was March 7th!

Tribunal results

The tribunal results for the original "Charlie Rape Gang" case were published immediately after the March 7 tribunal. They are included in this more recent story only as a historical reference.

All tribunal results now are published each Wednesday from hearings held the previous week.
