Two men shot each other Friday afternoon at an Evans home.
The shooting occurred at 627 Blanchard Road, where Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris said resident Philip Marshall, 44, was shot in the back and Patrick Smith, 33, in the stomach.
Multiple shots were fired, Morris said.
Both were taken to Georgia Health Sciences Hospital. Marshall was in serious condition, Morris said.
Deputies interviewed witnesses at the scene, but Morris didn’t immediately know Friday afternoon what started the fight.
However, a man at the scene was taken to a sheriff’s office substation for more intense questioning.
Though the shooting occurred inside the home, Smith was found in a Chevrolet Suburban on the side of Blanchard Road. A handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
Charges are pending, Morris said.
