Evans Middle School recently won fourth place and $2,000 in a national art contest.
Sponsored by Americans for the Arts and the Kris Wine Company, the Art of Education contest last month recognized 16 schools earning the top number of votes for arts education programs.
The cash award won by Evans Middle will be used to improve its fine arts program.
“We are thrilled to receive this much-needed funding to help support a well-rounded, top-notch education for our students,” Evans Middle Principal Mike Johnson said in a press release. “We recognize the importance of quality arts education for young people and thank both Americans for the Arts and Kris for this very generous funding, but also for helping to raise awareness about the need for arts education in K-12 schools.”
