A woman is believed to have had a seizure before crashing a car into the front of a Grovetown home Thursday morning.

The vehicle ran off of Highwoods Pass, in a section of the Indian Springs subdivision, about 10 a.m., according to Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputies.

The driver, 25-year-old Thanja Barthel, was backing out of the driveway of her home across the street when she had a seizure, floored the accelerator and ran across the front lawn of a neighbor's home, deputies said.

The rear of the Honda Accord struck the front of the home, spun sideways and came to rest against the porch, causing moderate damage to the home and the vehicle.

Barthel received just minor injuries from the crash, but was taken to an area hospital to be checked, deputies said. She will not be charged.
