Columbia County authorities were called to a Grovetown subdivision Wednesday after a man and his son found a large amount of blood on the ground.
A test on the blood conducted today revealed it wasn’t human, nor “upper-level primate,” said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
The 41-year-old man who found the blood said Wednesday evening he and his son saw a burgundy Dodge Ram truck parked near a gate on Sugarcreek Drive that led to an open field and power lines, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office report.
He asked the man inside the truck if he needed help, but the man, who appeared nervous, said he was waiting for a friend.
The father and son left to go home. A short time later, the 18-year-old son returned and found a large amount of blood in the spot where the truck had been parked.
The teen returned home to tell his father, who then called deputies.
Capt. Morris said investigators have few leads and likely will not pursue the case.
