Columbia County authorities are looking for a man they say cloned a Tennessee man’s debit card and used it locally.
The Church Hill, Tenn., man said a representative of his bank notified him on Dec. 30 that someone made four transactions in Columbia County totaling $989, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The man said someone made a duplicate of his debit card and used it twice at the ATM machine at the Circle K at 4256 Washington Road in Evans totaling $505.
At about 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 27, the thief used the duplicate card at the walk-up ATM machine at SRP Federal Credit Union on Belair Road in Evans, to withdraw $484.
After viewing video surveillance footage, deputies describe the thief as a white man wearing a blue and white striped shirt and white baseball cap.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity or whereabouts should call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 541-2800.
