Club Car has completed a round of layoffs that involves the Columbia County facility, company spokesman Brian Formato said Monday.
“We are continually monitoring the economic conditions to ensure appropriate staffing levels which has resulted in a recent reduction in workforce,” Formato said. “As a business, we will move forward and, as always, concentrate on the needs of our customers while continuing to position Club Car for long term success as a global, task-oriented vehicle company.”
The company would not say how many employees were let go or the locations affected in North America. However, Formato said the reduction affected “a small group of Club Car employees both in Augusta and in the field.”
The local Club Car workforce is about 1,000 people, spokesman Bill Bryant estimated. The company’s international headquarters is located on Washington Road in Evans.
