The annual Disc Golf Ice Bowl is set to take place Saturday at Patriot’s Park.
Though typically a warm-weather sport, disc golf’s Ice Bowl tradition started in 1987 and is held throughout North America and Europe each year in January and February.
Each bowl supports a charity. Locally, the Golden Harvest Food Bank benefits.
Last year, the Augusta Disc Golf Association raised about $1,800 and more than 320 pounds of food during the Ice Bowl.
The entry fee to participate in the bowl is $25 and donations of nonperishable canned goods.
Divisions include professional, advanced, intermediate, recreational and novice. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.
Mulligans can be purchased for $1 each.
In addition to disc golf, the Ice Bowl also will feature a chili cook-off lunch between the first and second rounds and a silent auction.
