An Evans man announced today that he intends to run for the Columbia County Commission next year.
Butch Holley said he plans to run for the District 3 seat, currently held by Charles Allen.
According to a press release announcing Holley's candidacy: "It is his goal to represent everyone by listening to what they have to say, relaying information to his constituents, and continuing to provide the opportunities for both a high quality of living and growth in the business sector of Columbia County."
Holley is the marketing manager for The Salvation Army of Augusta and former vice president of Augusta Metro Federal Credit Union.
The Westside High School and Brenau University graduate is a board member of the Jud C. Hickey Center for Alzheimer's Care, Cub Scout pack leader and board member of the Hardy Pointe Homeowners Association.
He's a former Child Enrichment Inc. board member and past president of the Exchange Club of Richmond County. Holley is a member of Leadership Augusta Class of 2009 and was a member of the steering committee for Leadership Columbia County.
"Through my established relationships with the everyday business owner, the needy, the elderly, the young and families of all background and income levels, I can relate with everyone," according to Holley's press release. "I seek to represent everyone, to be their voice, and to be a true servant of the community."
The primary will be July 31 and the election will be held on Nov. 6.
