Some streets in Evans will close temporarily on Saturday morning during a benefit run for SafeHomes of Augusta.
The Jingle Jam 10k Run/Walk will start with an expo at 8 a.m. at Evans Towne Center Park. Some roads or traffic lanes in the area will close in preparation at 7:30 a.m., reopening at 10 a.m., including Town Center Drive adjacent to the park and Ronald Reagan Drive.
Other roads affected by the run include Hereford Farm Road, Gibbs Road, Sir Galahad Drive, Chalice Circle, Graystone Way, Country Place Lane, Bettys Branch Way, Brandermill Road, Bedford Drive, Hebbard Way, Waterford Drive, Connemara Trail, Galway Drive, Lake Jean Drive, Lawrence Drive, Parkview Drive, Town Park Blvd., Rachel Drive, Travis Court and Pheasant Run Drive.
Columbia County officials and SafeHomes are asking as a courtesy to the participants that residents along those streets refrain from any on-street parking, limit trips to and from residences, and yield the right-of-way to runners they might encounter between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
Those who would like to participate in the race can sign up until 9 .m. Thursday via www.raceit.com, with a search on "Jingle Jam" and clicking the link. Online registration costs $35.
Late registration costs $40, and will be held at Towne Center Park on Friday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., along with a pre-race expo.
The race is a fundraiser for SafeHomes, a non-profit organization for the intervention and prevention of domestic violence.
