Columbia County deputies converged on an Appling home this evening looking for a man firing shots from his rifle.
Just after 5 p.m., a woman called deputies to her home at 3030 tray Owens Road after a dispute with her husband, who had a rifle, according to scanner traffic. The woman said her husband went into a shed in the back yard.
Since then, at least two shots have been fired. Deputies have told the woman to stay inside her home while they search for her husband, who is in the shed or the wooded area behind the home.
Deputies have inquired about the use of the sheriff’s office armored car and the Georgia State Patrol helicopter, according to the scanner.
