The deadline for a Columbia County Library Web site design contest has been extended until Dec. 2.

The contest is open to high school, home-schooled and college students between 16 and 21 years old who are interested in creating a new Web site design for the library.

The contest, which began Sept. 1, consists of three stages.

For the first phase, young web designers must submit the “wire framework” or basic format for both the main and subsequent pages by Dec. 2.

The top 20 designers will go on to compete in the second stage.

The first-place design will be unveiled in 2012, and the winner will pocket $2,000.
