Columbia County's Community Events Department is seeking businesses to hand out candy to children and information to their parents during the annual "Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat."
The event, a benefit for the Columbia County Cares food pantry, is set for Oct. 27 at the Patriots Park Gym.
Participation from businesses is free, but each business is expected to provide candy or other small items such as pens or pencils to trick or treating children. Those businesses may also hand out information to adults who accompany the children.
Businesses provide their own tables, a maximum of two, and the county will provide Halloween bags for children. Each business also may bring a banner or sign to display at their tables.
The annual event will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Patriots Park gym, but businesses are asked to contact Community Events to reserve a space by Friday, Oct. 21. For information, call Virginia Atkins at (706) 312-7194.
