Students caught with drugs at school

Posted: October 14, 2011 - 1:47pm  |  Updated: October 17, 2011 - 8:02am

Three Columbia County high school students were sent to alternative school last week for drug possession.

Including these incidents, 11 students since Sept. 20 were caught with drugs at county public high schools.

The students were sent to the county alternative school in Grovetown following sessions before the school system hearing officer on Oct. 6.

Two of the students attended Greenbrier High and another was at Evans High.

A Lakeside High student supposedly was caught with marijuana, but the hearing officer remanded the student’s case back to the school last week due to “insufficient evidence.”

Also last week, a pupil at Stallings Island Middle School was sent to the alternative school for disorderly conduct.
