Posted: September 10, 2017 - 3:58pm  |  Updated: September 10, 2017 - 6:10pm

All Columbia County offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 11.

According to a statement from officials, the closure is a result of Governor Nathan Deal's declaring a state of emergency for the county.

"Although we are expecting some rain and wind in our area, out of an abundance of caution, county offices will be closed on Monday, September 11th," according to a statement from the county. "We will continue to monitor the weather as the storm approaches and let you know about plans for Tuesday as soon as possible."

All Columbia County Schools will also be closed Monday. In addition to all Columbia County Schools, the charter School for Arts Infused Learning will also be closed Monday, along with Augusta Christian and Augusta Preparatory Day School.

Grovetown City Hall will also be closed Monday due to inclement weather.

Advanced Disposal will not operate in Columbia or Richmond County Monday. All Grovetown residents are being asked to secure trash containers away from the streets and within garages, out buildings, etc. Rough trash and yard waste has not been picked up in Grovetown in the past few days due to the street department's preparation for inclement weather. There will be no rough trash and yard waste pickup until the week of September 18, according to Grovetown's website.

Patriot's Park and Liberty Park Community Center will also remain closed to activities due to being designated evacuee shelters for the American Red Cross. Liberty Park has not been officially activiated, but is on standby at the moment, according to officials.

In addition, all judicial proceedings and hearings have been cancelled for Monday and Tuesday in Columbia County.
