After the speeches were finished and the ribbon was cut, parents and students fanned out into Evans Elementary School to get their first look at the the new building. Most were in awe of the custom woodwork on the stairways and the spaciousness of the hallways. As students looked for their friends names on the class rosters posted on the walls the parents examined the new media center and computer labs. A parent conference room off the media center features glass walls on three sides that look down on the school courtyard. The children are anxiously awaiting the first day of school on Tuesday.
