On Saturday, June 15, the communities of Cedar Ridge Elementary school, Grovetown and Fort Gordon came together to show their support for our son, Carlos G. Garth Jr., a 9-year-old who is winning the battle over acute myeloid leukemia.
The “Cruizin’ for Carlos”(www.facebook.com/cruizinforcarlos) event was a great example of the support that our family has received from the parents and students at Cedar Ridge Elementary.
The idea for the event came from Gene Benson, the father of Tyler Benson, one of Carlos’ classmates. From there, the Carlos G. Garth Jr. Benefit Committee was formed. It consisted of parents, teachers and soldiers. In addition to Gene Benson, Paula Watson, Patricia Clancey, Deanna Youngblood, Kayce Masaniai and CPT Darcelle Fielder comprised the Benefit Committee.
We cannot thank these great Americans enough for their commitment, hard work and dedication to ensuring Carlos Jr.’s day was memorable for years to come and for all of the support they continue to provide.
