Visitors saw displays around the building, including one that featured old yearbooks and an architectural rendering of the school prior to construction. The school will be demolished next year, and a new larger, two-story school will be built on the Flowing Wells Road site.
Current and former administrators, staff members and students of Martinez Elementary School celebrated the school's 50th anniversary Feb. 9. Norris Long, the school's first principal, attended and presented Principal Wade White with a school flag from 1962. Special Photo Martinez Elementary celebrated 50 years of academic excellence February 9th. Former students, administrators, and teachers were invited to share in the celebration. Norris Long (right), the first principal of MES attended and presented Mr. Wade White, the current principal, with a school flag from 1962. Displays were set up around the building with pictures and yearbooks for visitors to look through and reminisce.
