Chandler Rashard Hawes, 9, is a third-grader at Baker Place Elementary and the son of Voltrina Williams and Keith S. Hawes. He recently entered a story entitled He Should Have Listened to Mom into the Virginia Dehn Poetry and Prose Contest. His work has been selected to appear in a book of Virginia Dehn art and associated writing to be published this spring in conjunction with an exhibit of the artist's work at the Creative Arts Center in Bonham, Texas.
