McDuffie County School Superintendent Jim LeBrun presents the county's Teacher of the Year award to Courtney Manuel Hayes, of Appling, at a reception held at Thomson High School on Oct. 29. Courtney was nominated after being named Maxwell Elementary School's Teacher of the Year. She has been teaching for 11 years in McDuffie County.
