The Rev. Pierre Robert Chapter, National Society, Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century, presented the Charlie Norwood VA Fisher House with three portable electric coolers to be used by the residents. The Fisher House is where family members of VA patients can stay while the veteran is hospitalized. Lt. Richard Herdegen (left), vice commander of the Augusta Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars, gave certificates of appreciation to a Columbia County couple after their talks to the chapter. Staff Sgt. Jay Dunham of the Georgia National Guard, a fleet manager for the Department of Transportation, Columbia County Board of Education, spoke of his experiences while deployed to Qatar in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Capt. Donna Dunham, who is in charge of the Office of Professional Standards for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, spoke of her experiences in 22 year as a law enforcement officer in the county.
