Jacob Darlak, a fifth-grade student at Lewiston Elementary School, was selected as the third-place winner for the statewide "Bicycling Takes Me Places" poster contest. Georgia Bikes and Saris Cycling Group held the contest for fifth-graders as a way to encourage students to think about the positive aspects of bike riding and being active.
Baker Place Elementary School students participated in the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition. Entries included short stories, poetry, essays, journals, personal narratives, reports or any other student writing. Grade level winners were Natalie Gustin, second grade (front row, from left); Lucy Durbin, kindergarten; and Samuel Floyd, first grade; Austin Pagerly, third grade (second row, from left); Hailey Briolat, fourth grade; and Quynh Le, fifth grade; with Principal Leeann Fleischauer.
