Symphony Orchestra Augusta and the Augusta Symphony Guild held the SOA Concerto Competition on Jan. 22. Alan Cooke was master of ceremonies. Golda Nguyen, a junior at Davidson Fine Arts High School, won first place for the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major, op. 15 and Lakeside freshman Sophie Li won second place for her performance of the first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor.
