Twins Sydney and Caitlyn Harper, 9, won a prize for their Thing 1 and Thing 2 costumes at River Ridge Elementary. The school held a Dr. Seuss costume contest Friday for Read Across America Week on the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

School Superintendent Charles Nagle visited first-graders in Room 14 at Bel Air Elementary School on Dr. Seuss' birthday and read If I Ran the Circus. He is shown with Ethan Franklin (from left), Micah Fickling, Tina Tullis, Gabriela Caulderon, Kaleb Robinson and Skyler Johnson. Each of the students earned their own ticket to Six Flags by participating in the Read to Succeed program.
