Muslim movie

A free movie, Muslim Boarders, about a group of snow-boarding Muslim students, will be shown at 8 p.m. Friday at the Islamic Center of Augusta, 3416 Middleton Drive, Martinez.

Shoe drive

Area podiatrists are collecting new and used shoes for distribution to those in need. Shoes of all sizes, types and condition may be brought to any podiatrist’s office through Saturday. For information, call Dr. Kent Kronowski at (706) 724-0586.


The Columbia County Choral Society will hold auditions for the 2012 spring season, which will feature John Rutter’s Requiem, from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Evans. Call (706) 650-2311 or go to www.ccchoralsociety.org.

Preschool fair

The Evans chapter of MOMS Club International will hold its fourth annual Preschool and Mom’s Morning Out Fair from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 28 at First Baptist Church of Augusta. The event is free. Area preschools and mom’s morning out programs wishing to participate are asked to contact the Evans MOMS Club at annualpreschoolfair@gmail.com by Jan. 13.

Garden classes

The Augusta Council of Garden Clubs is sponsoring two series of classes on basic horticulture, from Jan. 14-June 9, $25 per session, and landscape design, from Jan. 6-May 5, $70 per two-day session.
