Special Photo Alexis Gibson, 9, (left) of Martinez, recently presented Tyler Hancock, 9, of Lancaster, S.C., with a bicycle as a Christmas present at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital. Tyler, a patient at the burn center, has had multiple surgeries since he received second- and third-degree burns to 47 percent of his body in 2010. Alexis won the bike through a reading competition at South Columbia Elementary School, and because she already had a bike she decided to donate it to another child. "The bike that Alex won was a boy's bike, so the Academy Sports manager told her that she could exchange it for a girl's bike or receive a gift card with the bike's value," said Shannon Gibson, Alexis' mother. "But Alex didn't want to do that. She wanted to give the bike to someone who needed it."
