Harvey Woods, of Martinez, and his sister Lory Chancy, of Lake City, Fla., at the Church on the Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg, Russia. The church was built on the spot where Czar Alexander II was assassinated in 1881.
Paula Schwartzman, a first-grade teacher at Stevens Creek Elementary School, poses with a young panda bear at the Chengdu Panda Reserve during a recent trip to China. Paula and her husband, Alan, crisscrossed China this summer for two weeks, visiting the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Warrior excavation, the Forbidden City, and the cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
