No one was injured in a Wednesday fire that destroyed a home near Harlem.
At about 2:15 p.m., a neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the crawl space vents of the manufactured home at 6258 Harp Drive, off White Road south of Harlem.
The homeowner, Regina Beard, was not home at the time.
The fire started in a back bedroom, but fire officials were not able to determine the exact cause, Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Ronald Davis said.
The home was heavily damaged by fire and heat, Davis said.
Beard did have homeowner’s insurance, Davis said, and a representative of the American Red Cross arrived to assist.
