A Grovetown man was charged with aggravated child molestation Monday after authorities say he inappropriately touched a 14-year-old girl at an Evans park in June.
Landon “Dock” Norman, 38, began communicating with the girl at Riverside Park, where her brother and Norman’s son played on a youth baseball team together, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The girl’s mother said Norman first began talking and joking with her daughter on the park’s field as the team practiced.
Norman added the teen as a friend on Facebook and began talking to her through the online social site.
The teen later told her mother that Norman had made inappropriate comments and sent nude pictures to her e-mail address, according to the report.
During a practice at Riverside Park one night in June, Norman walked with the girl to a secluded area and told her to get in his vehicle.
The two were talking when Norman made advances toward her and molested her, according to the report.
After the girl told Norman to stop, he threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident, the report says.
He continued to inappropriately touch the girl until leaving to pick up his son from the park, the report stated.
The girl’s mother said Norman continued to call, text and send her daughter Facebook messages trying to see her. When the girl spent the night at a friend’s house, she said Norman asked both girls to sneak out.
In addition to aggravated child molestation, Norman was charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and five counts of electronically distributing obscene material to a minor, according to jailers at the Columbia County Detention Center.
Norman is being held without bond in the Columbia County Detention Center.
