For Mallory Crowe, every day brings improvement.

At 9 months old, she suffered her first seizure, with a few more occurring in the following months. A severe seizure occurred three years later, which forced her into the hospital for about a week, said her mother, Kim Crowe, of Evans.

Mallory ended up on a respirator in the intensive care unit and developed viral meningitis.

Amateurs get rocking in June   05/30/12 - 12:06am

Local amateur performers will have a chance to prove their talent this summer on stage.

The Columbia County Amateur Series, to be held at the Columbia County Amphitheater, begins Friday and runs most Fridays until the finale Sept. 8, said Sandy Boner, the county’s rental facilities and venues manager.

The series, which was Boner’s idea, was inspired by a popular television show.
