Local talent show

Local performers will take the stage tonight at the Columbia County Amphitheater in Evans to prove their talent.

The Columbia County Amateur Series resumes from 7-9 p.m. and will continue most Fridays through Sept. 8.

The series, based on America’s Got Talent, features 40 performers between the ages of 7 and 60 whose talents include dancing, hula-hooping and singing.

A winner is named each month and that participant will go on to compete in the September finale for the grand prize.

A woman called authorities Saturday after discovering a fowl mess on her car.
The 20-year-old said her 2011 Honda Accord was parked behind the Subway on Oxbow Drive in Grovetown between 5-10:30 p.m. During that time, someone smeared the car with chicken.
The woman said the chicken is the kind sold at Subway, so she talked to Subway employees. They said they knew nothing about the car damage, but had only sold three sandwiches using that kind of chicken.
The chicken left no permanent damage to the car.

A Martinez man was arrested Monday after he stole his sister’s car while intoxicated, then fought with deputies.

Nicholas Scott Williams, 26, of Westport Road, was charged with driving under the influence, obstruction of police, driving on a suspended license and being a habitual violator.
