The waiting was the hardest part.
With their opening-round match of the GHSA Class AAAAA state tennis tournament scheduled for 3 p.m., the Lakeside High School boys didn’t take the court until 5 p.m. against Carver-Columbus, Tuesday afternoon.
From that point, it took the No. 1 seed Panthers (17-0) under an hour to dispatch the Tigers (6-7), 5-0.
The scores didn’t necessarily reflect the step up in play that the Panthers faced Tuesday, with all but one match going 6-0, 6-0. Panthers’ coach Dave Pitock thought the Tigers put forth a good effort against his squad.
