In my second life, I want to come back as a dog.

Crazy, you say? Well, I’ve been called worse. Some dogs do have it rough, and I am doing my part by donating to the Humane Society when I can.

Like people, some dogs are homeless, but at least there are angels who pick up as many canines as they can and take them to a safe environment. From there, they can be adopted as a rescue dog. They go to good homes, have their own bed, are fed on a regular basis and, most of all, they are loved.

All of us have things that make us angry. Sometimes, it’s good to let your anger out instead of holding it in until you develop an ulcer. Other times, it’s best to hold it in rather than doing something that could land you in jail or in a fight you might later regret.

One thing that angers me is seeing a dog mistreated. Why do people buy pets if they really don’t want one? It’s unfair to the pet and unfair to yourself.

Here I am again, same as last year, trudging through the snow in below-freezing weather at the North Pole just to get an interview with one of its citizens.

Do you know I had to buy an extra warm coat, heavy gloves and a stupid-looking hat for this once-a-year journey? Maybe the newspaper should reimburse me for all that. It couldn’t hurt to ask.

As my toes are becoming frostbitten because I didn’t think to buy heavy boots, I’m wondering who I could interview. Santa gives me permission every year but I never know who I’ll be talking to when I get there.

If I were to write about klutzes, there would be a lot to reflect upon with some of my friends. And with me.

I had an acquaintance who slipped on the sidewalk in front of an auto parts shop and banged up her face pretty good. It would have been sad were it not for the fact that she couldn’t stop laughing.

She also told everyone that her husband hit her. That’s not a joke with all the spousal abuse going on, but everybody who knew her husband knew it was a joke. Still, I’m surprised the police didn’t show up at their front door.
