An Evans home will be featured Friday on The Today Show.

Homeowner Ginnelle Elliot said in an email that her 3,000-square-foot Williamsburg-style home located in the Stratford subdivision will appear on the show’s segment about affordable homes in America that cost less than $300,000. The segment is scheduled to air at 9 a.m.

The four-bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom home is located on the 4400 block of Andover Drive and was built in 1998.

The brick three-story house currently is listed for sale with Blanchard and Calhoun for $289,900.

The Georgia Guitar Quartet got its start when four guitarists met at the University of Georgia.

Originally from Greenville, S.C., Phil Snyder remembers meeting fellow musicians Jason Soloman, Brian Smith and Kyle Dawkins in 1996 while the four were attending UGA and majoring in guitar performance.

The quartet has remained close since then, touring across the country.

“We just liked hanging out together ... at school,” Snyder said. “It’s fun to be up there and making good music with your friends.”

All cooks with a hankering for barbecue are invited to test their skills at an inaugural barbecue cookoff in March.

Members of the men’s ministry at Kiokee Baptist Church are seeking individuals and groups to sign up by March 3 for the inaugural Kiokee Kooker’s BBQ Cookoff,

The event is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 10 at the former J.D. Howell’s store on the corner of Ray Owens and White Oak roads in Appling.

“It’s all about the bragging rights and who cooks the best barbecue,” said Keith Price, an event organizer.
