Strong wind gusts of up to 45 mph blew down several trees on roadways throughout Columbia County, including one that caused a vehicle crash, said Columbia County Emergency and Operations Division Director Pam Tucker.
Early Wednesday, a motorist on Old Appling-Harlem Highway, near Pumpkin Center, crashed into a tree that had fallen across the roadway. No one was injured, said Columbia County Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
