Information for students with disabilities and their families will be available Saturday at the CSRA Transition Resource Fair.

The event is a joint effort between numerous agencies.

“The fair is intended to share information regarding available resources in the community for individuals with disabilities,” said Teri Pettyjohn, coordinator of special services for the Columbia County Board of Education. “The specific goal is to help students and their families learn about how to plan for transition to adult living post high school.”

Local growers and farmers want to share their advice and products with area gardeners during the Augusta Locally Grown Grow Your Own Fair on Tuesday.

The event at the Augusta Jewish Community Center on Weinberger Way in Evans will run 2-7 p.m.

Augusta Locally Grown is a nonprofit group out to encourage people to “grow their own food or to buy locally that which they can’t grow,” said event organizer Kim Hines.

Parents of toddlers and preschoolers are certain to find a wealth of information at the Fourth annual Preschool/Mother’s Morning Out fair.

Sponsored by the Mom’s Club of Evans, the event seeks to make finding a preschool or mother’s day out program convenient and stress-free. This year’s fair will take place from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at First Baptist Church of Augusta.

Parents looking for something fun and educational for their children to do over the Martin Luther King Jr. break might be interested to learn of a Junior Ranger program that will be offered at Mistletoe State Park in Appling.

The program will be held Jan. 16 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., and will introduce participants ages 8-12 to birds of prey.

“Children will learn what birds of prey are, what their adaptations are, their importance in the food chain and much more,” said Program Assistant Brenda Bettross.
