Veteran Columbia County Commissioner Bill Morris retained his seat for another four years in Tuesday’s election.
District 4 Commissioner Morris defeated Vernon Thomas with 5,062, 62.8 percent of the votes.
“I’m pleased,” Morris said. “It’s exciting. It’s nice to be afforded the opportunity to be a part of such an exciting time for Columbia County.”
Thomas garnered 2,992, 37.1 percent of the votes. Thomas said he ran an effort to be the person that restores the public’s faith in politicians. Though he didn’t win, Thomas said he feels like a winner.
